The Races Day
As always, both courses of the Charity Races will start and finish on the Great Baddow recreation ground where there will be car parking; male and female changing and some shower facilities; warm-up aerobics; first aid and medical support; a physiotherapist; finish line photography; refreshments; a children's play area; charity stalls, and sideshows.
There will be an appropriate medal for every finisher, in both races.
10 mile Race - This race is over an undulating course through urban Great Baddow, Galleywood and rural West Hanningfield.
There are route markers, 4 water stations (3 on route and 1 on site), 1 sponge station, and distance markers every mile. There will be Marshals on the site and all the way round the course, with radio or telephone contact with Race Control for the duration of the race. There will be a race officials vehicle fitted with a time clock to lead the race, and a 'sweep' vehicle will follow the last runners.
The course is on roads that are open to, and used by, normal traffic so, for your safety and that of all road users, the use of mp3 players, earphones and headphones whilst running is NOT permitted. Any identified, and verified, infringement WILL result in disqualification
2 mile Fun Run - For the same safety reasons the use of mp3 players, earphones and headphones whilst running is NOT allowed.
The main local charities to be supported this year have now
been selected. We are pleased to announce that they are
Families InFocus Essex and Helen Rollason Cancer Charity.
In addition small grants are given to local groups who help with the organisation of the Races.
Many runners are now using to raise sponsorship for their choice of Charity. This is growing year on year and we are actively encouraging it. We only ask that you let us know for whom you are being sponsored and the amount achieved. This will allow us to judge the overall success of the races.
The Races take place at The Recreation Grounds Great Baddow Chelmsford Essex CM2 9RL.
